Opendoor and VB+P, “For Scare” Sign

Opendoor, an e-commerce platform for residential real estate, is aiming to change the way people think about real estate by reinventing life's most important transaction with a radically simple way to buy, sell and finance a home.

This Halloween, the brand is jumping into the trick-or-treating fun in a Sacramento community by posting a spectacular For Sale sign on one of its listing's yards (which would otherwise be a vacant house for sale without candy for the kids.) Instead of a traditional For Sale signpost, families will be greeted by a ghoulishly fun interactive version featuring a glowing Opendoor yard sign that reads, "Selling doesn't have to be scary." The For Sale sign also delivers haunting audio messages that play on people's fears of selling the traditional way due to the stress of staging, hosting open houses, waiting for an offer, and everything else that comes with it. As the sign says things like, "Are you haunted by the dread of open houses?!" "Strangers creeping around?!" and "Save yourself from the horrors!" passers-by are invited to request their own offer in minutes by scanning the sign with their phone. Of course, the sign wouldn't be complete if it didn't hand out the best candy in the neighborhood to all who dared to approach it, so Opendoor is delivering the treats too.

This effort comes on the heels of Opendoor's "Be Open" brand launch this summer and is the first of non-traditional initiatives to launch soon.
