It's training time in Tokyo

As in every big city, the daily commute in Tokyo can be a stressful and sedentary affair. But what if taking the train was an opportunity to get some exercise, or improve your mental strength? That’s now possible thanks to an app from East Japan Railway and McCann Health. Using iBeacon technology, the app senses how many people are in your carriage, after which you can select standing, sitting or mental exercises. The app provides a suitable voice-guided workout. From hauling yourself up on the straps to raising your bag above your head, or simply meditating, the simple exercises turn your journey into a gym. But you don’t need a track suit – only a track. And even if your job is tough, physical and mental fitness will stop you going off the rails.
