Kellie Bliss
President & Managing Director MERGE

Tell us about yourself and what you do in your current position.
I am a happily married, mother of three who loves what I do for a living. I get to be my best self by setting an example daily of what it can mean to be a leader of talented, creative people who need to collaborate to deliver our best work.
As an agency President, I nurture talent, empower teams, shower love and delight on clients, and learn new things every day. I am able to define experience standards for our clients and the teams that lead them.
Describe the culture at your agency; What is it like?
Fun, playful, smart, enthusiastic, collaborative and hardworking.
How does that culture compliment the juggling act that is being a working mother?
It keeps me laughing! I am surrounded by a youthful energy that inspires me, helps me connect, and gives me the freedom to put my family first when it matters most. We respect family at MERGE because after all, what is one's greatest source of energy? Love.
How has being a mother changed how you approach any aspects of your job?
Being a mother has not changed how I approach my job as much as it has helped build unique strengths that help me build great teams and great partnerships. With motherhood comes patience, empathy, responsibility to the greater good, and setting the right example. I also am not afraid to show my affection and who doesn’t like to know that someone cares about you. Additionally, working mothers are masters at juggling multiple priorities. It’s a survival skill.
What would you say are the most rewarding aspects of being a working mother?
Setting a good example of personal challenge and growth for my daughter and sons.
What are the biggest challenges, if any?
Not enough time in the day!
What steps do you take to ensure you achieve a healthy work-life balance?
I don’t really believe in work-life balance because my work is a big part of my life. To stay healthy, I nurture my familial relationships, especially with my husband, and I hit the gym. That's the best sense of balance you can get.
What professional achievement are you most proud of?
I'm proud of all of the growth that I’ve been a part of: Winning key new business pitches and building amazing teams and partnership with smart, demanding clients. Mostly, being a part of people’s personal growth. I tell most everyone, “I hope you call me in 10 or 20 years and say 'thanks' for believing in me.” I will then know that I’ve done my job.
What changes do you hope to see for future working parents?
A greater trust and open-mindedness to flex schedules. Just because you're in the office for 10 hours a day doesn’t mean you are a contributor.
Who are some working mothers that you admire/look up to?
The everyday moms and dads who ride the trains and buses every day to build a life for themselves and their families. We are all in it together.
