Philanthropic Strategic Consultancy Uncommon Joins Purpose

Purpose announced today that strategic consultancy Uncommon will join its team. As part of the addition, Uncommon’s Founder and CEO Corrie Frasier will serve as Partner and Managing Director, Philanthropic Partnerships, North America. Julianne Alarcio and Gina Carter from the Uncommon team will make the transition alongside Corrie. In this newly created role, Corrie will help funders harness the power of participation for good. Based in Seattle, she will also serve as the organization’s Head of West Coast Presence.

At Purpose, Corrie’s role entails leading and growing partnerships in the philanthropic sector. Before founding Uncommon in 2012, she spent eight years at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. With Uncommon, Corrie advised the United Nations Foundation, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, The George Lucas Educational Foundation, and Washington Global Health Alliance, among others, around new strategies, projects, and programs.

“We are delighted to welcome Corrie Frasier – longtime friend of Purpose, former client, collaborator, and champion of our models,” said Purpose Founder and CEO Jeremy Heimans.  “Corrie and her team join at a time of unprecedented growth in our impact and organizational footprint, and as our Labs model expands to tackle new U.S. and global issues. Her long tenure working with senior leaders across philanthropy and experience-building networks and communities to tackle social sector problems will add huge value to our work at Purpose.”

With over two decades’ experience partnering with philanthropies and other purpose-driven alliances, Corrie has a strong track record of building community partnerships, innovating public engagement strategies, and developing new programs. Her expertise spans an array of issues ranging from global health to education access in the U.S., with all efforts centered on building more effective systems for change. Justice, equity, and inclusion for people with disabilities remains a major area of interest for Corrie. She currently serves on board of Seattle Adaptive Sports, where her teenage son played wheelchair basketball before winning an athletic scholarship to play intercollegiate ball for Edinboro University.

“I’m especially thrilled to join the Purpose team alongside so many of my partners from Uncommon. Our learnings and the relationships we’ve built over the years that will translate well to Purpose and its mission,” said Corrie. “I look forward to working hand-in-hand with the team to continue making an impact that matters.”

Since its inception over a decade ago, Purpose experienced organic growth among an impressive client base across corporates, non-profits, and philanthropies; Capgemini recently acquired the organization. The United Nations, IKEA Foundation, the LEGO Foundation, World Wildlife Fund, Unilever, Ben & Jerry’s, the American Civil Liberties Union, The World Health Organization, and Everytown for Gun Safety are some of the forward-thinking companies, non-profits, and philanthropies that partner with Purpose. Notable recent work includes creating a global campaign with the United Nations called Verified, which works to fight misinformation on COVID-19 by flooding the Internet with science, solutions, and solidarity, as well as the development of an action platform website for Netflix’s The Social Dilemma.

Corrie begins in her role immediately.
