BCG2 and Film Construction Create a New Zealand Dream

BCG2 along with New Zealand based film company Film Construction went semi rural for the new “Life’s A Dream” spot for Farmers Mutual Group, renowned specialists for rural insurance in New Zealand. The campaign shows the trials and tribulations of lifestyle block living, summed up with the line: You’ve improved your lifestyle, now improve your insurance with FMG.

The campaign aims to show lifestyle block owners that a move to the country might be a move to the good life, but they need to be with an insurer who can help them manage the risks.

“At FMG, we know the effort that goes into managing a lifestyle block, but it can also be very rewarding too,” says FMG’s General Manager Client Propositions & Online Services, Glenn Croasdale.

It was a big story to tell in a short amount of time. The never ending tasks of lifestyle living required a lot of scenes to portray the highs and lows of country living.

“Blocking the action and careful shot planning was key to filling this family’s life with all the colour and chaos the scenes called for”, says Director - Perry Bradley.

Having made the move from inner city living to his own slice of green escapism around a decade ago, many of the scenarios rang true for Perry. “I am that guy. I've had to chase chickens out of the bathroom. Pull a tractor out from the septic tank overflow, and out of the pond. I could go on… I live this stuff and knew exactly what the performances required.

As James Blackwood, ECD of BCG2, said: “It’s been a tad difficult time trying to put stuff together this year and this was a lot of fun to make, so hopefully that’s apparent in the result and people enjoy a little light relief.”

Part of the challenge was to stay true to the FMG tone, but invite a more urban audience into our heartland.

Needless to say it was an action packed two day shoot filled with animal antics and good old country air.

Oh, and just so you know, roosters don’t crow on demand.
