Story | When Norway, in 2017, was the first country in the world to shut off their FM-radio-network, Amnesty International turned it back on, to broadcast its first distress signal since second world war. The distress signal was a looped recording from the sister of Teodora Vasquez - a Salvadoran woman sentenced to 30 years in jail after suffering a stillbirth. With the help of our own FM-receiver we managed to hijack the FM-radio-network. And the national media caught on at once. But since our FM-receiver only had a radius of 8 km(5 miles), we decided to make it possible for people to help boost Tedora's distress signal. With the help of two 24/7 LIVE streams of the same distress signal - one for Facebook and one for twitter - we made it possible for anyone to spread the signal by turning their Facebook or twitter into a radio antenna. |
