Violence and harassment against journalists in general has skyrocketed. Currently, there are 58 journalists missing around the globe. In most cases, the perpetrators of these actions are never brought to justice, fostering a climate of impunity. IFEX, formerly the International Freedom of Expression Exchange, is a global network of independent non-governmental organisations working at the local, national, regional and international level to defend and promote freedom of expression as a fundamental human right.
