Brief | On September 6, 2018, the Supreme Court of India scrapped section 377. Even though the law had been struck down, LGBTQ individuals had to face widespread societal prejudice. They remained, for the most part, invisible.On the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, The Times of India launched ‘Times Out & Proud Classifieds’, a section where the LGBTQ community could come out, speak-up and be seen.Members of the LGBTQ community could now look for employment, accommodation, a life partner. They could celebrate their birthdays and anniversaries and assimilate into mainstream society.The campaign film portrays the story of people from the LGBTQ community, offering a sneak-peak into their lives as they pour their heart out through the Classifieds columns. The campaign features a series of initiatives across print, digital, TV, radio and on-ground, aiming to integrate the community into society. |

The campaign is aimed to empower the members of the LGBTQ community to live a dignified life with acceptance and pride. With this campaign, TOI hopes to carve out a mainstream space for members of the community who identify as LGBTQ to interact, share and collaborate with the entire Indian population. |
