Story | While most Berlin citizens welcomed refugees with open arms, radicals spread fear by spraying Nazi tags all over the city. Artists decided to take a stand. Supported by their community’s favourite paint, they encouraged people to #PaintBack. An online film, magazines, posters and workshops inspired people to reconfigure Nazi symbols into pictures of hope and good-humour. The idea went viral immediately. PaintBack spread globally. But more importantly, places of hate were turned into places of joy. |
