| Philosophie | In anticipation of the upcoming PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, Team GB’s official supermarket partner, Aldi, has launched its latest advertising campaign, featuring the nation’s favourite Olympic ski jumper Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards and two of the most iconic figure skaters of all time, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. The adverts, which air for the first time on Thursday 1st February at 8.15pm on ITV, shows Aldi shoppers navigating snowy highstreets and turning a slip on the ice into something gold-medal worthy, whilst Olympians Torvill and Dean, and Eddie Edwards watch in amazement. From an elegantly pirouetting, bag-carrying gentleman sliding along to the tune of Boléro – the Ravel classic that accompanied Torvill and Dean to their gold medal win in 1984 - to an adrenaline seeking Grandma on her mobility scooter turning a snowy road and upturned table into her personal ski jump, it’s clear that with Aldi, everyone has podium potential. Aldi is also supporting Team GB’s current stars on their journey to Pyeongchang, including slopestyle and big air snowboarder Katie Ormerod, freestyle skier James Woods, skeleton racer and Olympic gold medallist Lizzy Yarnold, and the Team Muirhead women’s curling team. |
