| Story | We open up on the morning sun rising over a traditional Japanese house. Far in the distance, a snow-capped Mount Fuji can be seen. In the background, traditional Biwa music plays. Inside the house, we see the figure of a man walking, silhouetted by the bright vista outside. He is carrying a parcel wrapped up venerably in a peace of cloth… He enters a courtyard in the centre of the home surrounded by a small Shinto shrine and a Koi pond. Laid out in the middle of the yard is a small reed mat with tools familiar to those in the katana polishing scene: a set of polishing stones and a bucket of cool water. The Japanese man enters the courtyard and kneels down on the mat, placing the parcel delicately in front of him. He unwraps the cloth to reveal a beautiful, yet slightly dull and blackened katana blade… |
