The life saving TV project

In South Korea more 1.38 million senior citizens live alone and few social workers are taking care of them (1 social worker for almost 27 senior). A survey shows that a majority of elderly living alone have a TV set. The first thing they do when they get up in the morning is turn on their TV. Thinking something can be done using TV, KT has developed a new service named “Life saving TV project”. Linked with the TV set, as soon as the TV is not active more than 24 hours, a sms is sent to the social worker to inform and alert and then the social worker call the senior to check everything is ok.
