Story With Southern California facing persistent drought, as well as the loss of a major power plant, government and utility energy managers felt the urgent need to remind consumers about what to do if the state calls a “Flex Alert” – a branded statewide warning of potential power shortages. This spot uses uniquely styled animation to point out that when it's time to prevent a blackout, "the power is in all our hands."
Philosophie When it comes to preventing energy shortages, "the power is in all our hands."
Problem Higher than normal temperatures - always a huge driver of energy use - coupled with the loss of power from the state's biggest facility, make it urgent to make Californians know what to do in case of potential outages.  Nobody is jumping for joy over this - we've had four years of living with "doing with less."  And, frankly, the things people need to do - live in hotter houses, turn off lights, postpone using appliances - aren't exactly sexy from a cinematic standpoint.
Ergebnis 13,000 YouTube viewing on day #1.  .85 search clickthrough rate.  Millions of impressions from value added contributions by the states on- and offline media.
