Brief | The growing trend of plant-based substitutes has dropped milk off the nutrition pyramid. The new substitutes imitate milk in flavor and appearance – and the better they achieve, the more popular the product.We wanted to remind people that it isn’t enough to simply look or taste like milk: By separating the most important nutrients, such as calcium, milk protein and vitamin B12 and using a highly sensitive scanning electron microscope for shooting we were able to take a closer look in what is important in daily nutrition.The images were published in the biggest journals in Finland. Also the public schools welcomed the informative ads as part of their nutrition education all around the country. |
