Story Selling young girls for marriage is not only considered normal in Mexico, but those who attempt to escape are prosecuted and punishable by law. This World Children’s Day, we partnered with Yo Quiero, Yo Puedo and Oriental Films to educate people on a gruelling reality that’s rarely discussed. I’m a Criminal tells the real-life story of 13-year-old Angelica who was sent to jail in 2021 for attempting to escape her arranged marriage. Every year in Mexico, over 300,000 girls share Angelica’s fate. Our film shows it bluntly and encourages viewers to support Girls Not Brides—an organisation that supports victims.
