Marcos Alves

Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, “Marquito” is 50% of the Creative Direction team known as The Markos. Former copywriter, he started his career at local agencies in Brazil and has worked for big names such as Publicis Brazil and DM9DDB.

From 2016 to 2019, together with his work partner Marco Serra “Markão”, they were responsible for the Latin American digital creative account of McDonald’s, resulting in their first international awards such as the Cannes Lions, Clio Awards and El Ojo de Iberoamerica.

The international recognition came from festivals and agencies, leading the team to accept a job offer and move to Düsseldorf, Germany to work at BBDO. During their 3,5 years there, they achieved even more relevant results, winning pitches and more than 110 awards including a gold Cannes Lion, a silver medal at the Young Lions Digital Competition, 4 graphite pencils at D&AD and a Grand Prix for Good at Eurobest – which ranked the team as one of the 2021’s top 10 creative teams in the world, according to The Drum report.

Marquito and Markão then achieved their big dream to face the rain and live in Amsterdam in 2022. Working at Publicis Benelux they achieved more big results like the Grand Prix in Design at Eurobest and the Grand Prix in Film Craft at The New York Festivals. They then joined Edelman as Creative Directors at the end of 2023 where they are currently leading the Dutch office and working for different clients around the globe.
