Story The PAL nightclub in Hamburg is named after the Phase Alternating Line, a relic from the analogue TV era (and also a sound effect). The book translates the PAL concept and the analogue peculiarities of the club. The whole layout and especially the chapter separators extend this idea. The headlines are cut in a seven-inch format and rotate every chapter. The square shape of the record cover is picked up in the set grid. The obligatory hole in the record is characteristic and makes it playable on a physical record player.
Philosophie The PAL is a club for analog techno music next to Hamburg’s television tower. PAL stands for Phase Alternating Line, an analog television technology that can cause interference. This familiar effect led to the club’s corporate design, whose visual works were now to be brought into analog form.
